ASTRA-X10 digital night vision monocular

Here are quick answers to the questions we hear most about Astra digital night vision. Have one we didn't cover? Send us a note at support@astranv.com.

What is the difference between digital and analog night vision?

Astra digital night vision uses high-performance CMOS sensors and OLED micro-displays rather than image intensifier tubes. This gives lower latency, no white phosphor burn-in, native day-and-night use, and lower long-term cost without the export restrictions and fragility of traditional Gen-3 tubes.

How long does the battery last?

Operation time depends on the model. The ASTRA-X10 runs over 7 hours on a single 18650 battery, the ASTRA-P14 up to 18+ hours, and the ASTRA-P18 over 22 hours with its 4× 18650 battery pack.

Are Astra devices waterproof and dustproof?

Yes. Every Astra device is rated IP67, meaning fully dust-tight and waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Can I use Astra night vision during the day?

Yes. Unlike analog tubes, Astra digital units handle bright daylight safely thanks to ISP-controlled exposure. Use them as a day-night observation tool.

Important: do not point the device directly at the sun. Direct solar exposure can cause permanent sensor damage.

Do I need infrared (IR) illumination?

No active IR illumination is required under starlight or moonlight. Sensitivity goes down to 0.00005 lux. In pitch-dark indoor scenes an optional covert IR illuminator can extend range.

Can the device be helmet-mounted?

Yes. All Astra devices use Wilcox-dovetail helmet mounts, sold separately. The X10 and P14 mounts also support dual configurations so you can run two devices side-by-side.

What is the warranty?

All Astra devices include a one-year manufacturer warranty against defects. Contact us through the support page for registration and service details.

What is the shipping lead time?

ASTRA-P14 and ASTRA-X10 typically ship in 10–15 days from order. Other models are built to order and ship in 2–4 weeks. We confirm exact lead time at order processing. Feel free to contact us about current lead time.
